Hey Guy's, I just want to give you a brief history of my single tank MB and the wax, aglae, .... whatever it is problem. I ran a blend w/ gas and/or diesel and WVO for one full year with no problems at all. Last year about this time of the year I started clogging the clear prefilter about ever 20 or 50 miles of driving on the interstate. It was a very expensive headache. I eventually pulled the tank and used Clorox, a pressure washer, and other cleaners to try to get the crap out of there Then I had these pieces of the remnants going through the lines and plugging filters throughout the winter. Now, I bought one of the cleanable 60 micron filters from mercedessource.com and I think it is working good. Only about 500 miles on it so far so I am not sure yet. OK, so now with the history of the problems from last summer. Fastforward to now. For about the past 2 months I have been noticing this rapid growth of this red stuff in the link above. The stuff from last year was kinda brownish-white on the filler neck and cap but it feels like it is the same stuff. I have used several of the algaecide treatments with no real positive results. I am now using Biobor and I don't think it is helping. I really don't want to have to pull the tank again but I also don't want to clog filters every 20 miles all during the summer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have not tested it for moisture lately.
I will do this tomorrow using the hot pan test. I generally let my oil settle for 2-3 months and then only pump off of the top 2/3rds. I do not heat up the oil for dewatering. The oil that I use is very clear and does not get any rain water. It is changed frequently. Should I add heat to fully dewater? http://www.libertyagrifuels.com 1995 Dodge Cummins W/ Custom 2-Tank Setup and 10 K miles on veg oil so far. 1984 300D-Daily Driver No Mods single tank and 20 K miles on veg. |

OK. I just ran a hot plate test and I do not think that the oil passed the test.
I put a spoon full of oil onto a frying pan that sat for 2 min on high, the frying pan started to smoke and then I poured the spoon onto the pan. It crackled and bubbled some. http://www.libertyagrifuels.com 1995 Dodge Cummins W/ Custom 2-Tank Setup and 10 K miles on veg oil so far. 1984 300D-Daily Driver No Mods single tank and 20 K miles on veg. |

To dewater I am planning on using 2-1000 watt 120 volt heaters.
I will leave them on for a few hours. What is a good temp and time frame to shoot for when I am dewatering this oil that has little to no free standing water in it? http://www.libertyagrifuels.com 1995 Dodge Cummins W/ Custom 2-Tank Setup and 10 K miles on veg oil so far. 1984 300D-Daily Driver No Mods single tank and 20 K miles on veg. |
