I have posted several times about my "new" 1994 Mercedes G350. I bought it around Thanksgiving and wanted to put a few miles on it to make sure everything was ok before I started blending. If anything happened I wanted to be able to rule out the WVO. Well I have about 5,000 miles on it now without any problems. I went back and forth about adding heat or not but after talking to several people I decided to run a stock system since I found out the IP has an oil line running through it thus heating it.
So on Saturday I ran the tank nearly empty and added a 60% diesel 35% WVO 5% rug blend. I can't tell any difference. It actually starts a bit quicker in the mornings, I assume the rug is the reason for that.
Since it starts so well, no smoke either, I am going to up the blend to 50% WVO with about 5% rug and 45% diesel until the weather warms up. At that time I plan to gradually start increasing the amount of WVO.
Any input appreciated, just happy to be blending again!

Hey Rusty,
I just made a batch of 60% wvo, 30% diesel, and 10% rug this weekend and will put some in my tank in the next couple of days, there'll be about 25% biodiesel left in the tank at this point so it should be OK at 10 degrees celcius. This will be in he Jetta, I hope to get the Mecedes on the road soon though. My 2 cents.

The temperatures last week when I put in the blend were pretty warm but have since cooled. This morning it as around 38ºF or about 6-7ºC and it still started normally, couldn't tell a difference. I am about to put in closer to a 50/50 blend, still with about 5% rug, might try a bit higher since it is cheap now. I wish I had a good source for Kerosene.

I put in about a half tank 30% diesel/60% WVO/10% RUG with about .2% Power Service Diesel Fuel Treatment. Could be my imagination but I think it feels smoother and more powerful than B100. I would normally fill right up but as I am on my first blended tank I wanted to leave some head room to adjust the recipe if I need to.

I have since put another tank of blend in my Mercedes, this time I forgot to add the rug. I put in about 50% WVO/50% diesel. It starts better with the 5% of RUG. I am now on a tank of diesel and the WVO blend with RUG starts better than even straight diesel. With the RUG it would start within about 1-2 seconds, without it takes about 2-3 seconds, not a big deal but the RUG does make a difference.
I am going to add more WVO into my tank of Diesel (had to go on a trip this weekend and didn't take any extra WVO) tomorrow and add the RUG back in to make sure.
Other than that I really can't tell any difference and like you bmor, I think it might actually be better with the blend.

well it got cold here today and we had a snowfall. I put in a long day at work so my car sat for 12 hrs and it was 8:30 pm when I left. It was harder to start than I am used to. Warmed the glow plugs 2x, fire up and stalled, did this again and applied the accelerator for 10 or 20 seconds to let the motor warm some. I was at half tank so thinking of tomorrow morning I topped off the tank with petrodiesel. Maybe it wasn't necessary but due to the temperature drop I didn't want to take any chances. I guess it'll warm up in a few days so next week I'll add another half tank of my blend.

I was adding 5% RUG to the SVO in my 2 tank system and noticed an improvement in the way the car ran.
I got lazy and didn't bother going to the servo for about 6 weeks for petrol ( don't go there for anything else these days) but with the lawnmower running dry, I got some more petrol for it and the car while I was at it.

I added it in to the tank I have been driving on for a few days and straight away noticed the difference although at first, I forgot what I had done and was wondering about the improved change.
There is no doubt the RUG not only helps starting but also performance and decreases the smoke my car emits at the lights.

Sometimes you work something out but then forget about it only to have it recalled and proven beyond all doubt. Wink

I have been running my wife's hereto unconverted Merc on a 50% Bio/ SVO blend and with the addition of some RUG to it's tank, in a couple of days she asked what I had done to the car as it was starting easier and running better.

Coming from someone that can drive a car to the shops and back with a completely flat tyre and not notice, That's real proof to me. Big Grin
