I've been running a blend like the DSE type along with about 50% regular diesel in my Ford 6.0 for the last 15,000 miles (my truck is an '07 with 27,000 on it)..... recently I had a fuel pump at the tank fail.... it's since been replaced.

Any suggestions going forward?

If you check out the "Getting colder" thread you will see what I do. My buddy's 06 6.0 runs it with a half a tank of diesel. My other suggestion is forget everything you learned with DSE. Granted that's how I got started too but I am glad I found this place. You go by that company's suggestion and you'll have a lot more problems than a pump. I'm sure that's what happened to you. These guys will help you. There's a lot of experience here and great people. I dewater by mixing the oil with the kero and rug, using a pump to spray back into the barrel breaking the surface tension for a few hours and settling it for about 2 weeks. Then I run it through a 3 micron and a 2 micron filter right before a goldenrod waterblock. Some people say the waterblock does no good with veg but hey what's it hurt to have one more line of defense. Then I just add about a quarter tank of diesel before I fill up with it. Works for about 4 trucks I'm putting it in. That 06 6.0 F250, 99 F350, My baby the 99 F250, and my 97 F250 which is for sale. Happy veggin'.

Hi,

A couple questions:

What kind of driving do you do?

Did you break in the engine?

Was the 27,000 in say the past 18 months?

Where do you live (altitude and climate?)

Could you explain the other 50% of your mix?

Aloha!

That is absolutely absurd and otherwise awful advise. Did I not just say that I have been blending for a 6.0? Look around. How many people here have a 6.0 and are blending. I'm sorry for that but if you're not an encouraging helpful source of information then stay on the bio or svo side of this forum! We're here to as the commercial says, Find the ways that work. And blends do work in a 6.0.

06 6.0 65k-I have run 10 gal reg diesel to 20 gal blend for the last six months.I have ran straight blend a couple of times, but I get too much white smoke at idle.Dont want to carbon foul injectors.
I have inspected cylinders with a boroscope,No coking present and last oil change, oil was fine no jellin or anything.

I recommend tweaking your blend for colder weather add little more rug.My truck takes a couple key cycles to fire when cool out, love that factory block heater,it makes a big difference.

Ive heard a lot of woe on using veg in a 6.0 but I tell you what, we have thousands of miles on 6.0s in several states with no problems to date.
Im not saying they wont all crater in the next few days, but I have not seen any problems yet.

2006 Dodge 2500 run on 50/50 of petro diesel and blend.

I've been off the forum for a little while, glad to see the posts on here.

I have to admit, with the price of diesel coming down a little bit, and the weather getting a little colder I've gotten a little scared of running it so I'm down to a 95%diesel 5% mix at this point.

My truck is, for the most part, broken in. I've pulled trailers for almost half of the first 30,000 miles so it has been worked out a bit.

I notice that once I get close to a 10% blend, it doesn't start quite the same way and that concerns me.

With regular diesel, you cycle the glow plugs, and when it fires up the tach jumps and it settles down to an idle.....

When it has a good bit of blend in it.... it's almost like the starter has to 'get it going' and it doesn't chirp and settle down it just kind of 'winds up' when you start it....

Am I making any sense?

QUESTION...... in the winter months, for the 6.0, what is the ultimate 'safe' cold weather blend?

What percentages of RUG and WVO would be best and what additives is everyone using?

I'm asking this specifically of the 6.0 guys.
