I'v been running WVO for about a year in my ford with good results but have recantley got tired of the bag filters and shelled out for a centrefuge. I have a quantity of used motor oil I'd like to run through it and blend with the vegie oil. But my searches don't turn up what I'm looking for. Has any one got a blend for me and info on how well its doing Thanks.

Thanks Wiz its all your falt I went to the CF. As for using the WMO I'm getting beat out buy the big collectrs around here and need to figure out how to supplement my WVO. If only I could figure out how to hook up the wife in her old age I could run on wind and methane and skip all this fun with WVO.

Philip, where in FL are you?

Do a search for tim c cook on the forums, he's running (or was running) 30% used motor oil blends.

pvc,

Keep us posted on your findings. I'm interested in as to what you find out & your blend with WMO.

At some point, I too would like to get a CF. Seems like it would eliminate some problems & save time!

Let us know how it works out for you!

Okay, I'm joining this thread. Had a guy call me this morning and he can get 50 gallons of automatic transmission fluid (ATF) a week. He wanted to know if I could teach him how to convert into biodiesel...... Roll Eyes

So, naturally, I told him what I knew.....he's going to pursue obtaining some UVO sources and we might explore "blending".

I think properly cleaned ATF would work well when blended and due to the thinner viscosity than UMO, could also be used in higher ratios without putting undue strain on fuel pumps etc.

Ideally I think you would want to centrifuge this stuff but if you dont have one I would be going as small on the filtration as you could, right down to 0.5Um if you can.

I wouldn't mind trying this stuff myself although ATM I have little reason to as I can get all the WVO I (And several friends) can use. For those that aren't in such a fortunate situation, ATF could be a still available resource they could get easily and make use of.
It would be interesting to see how it went as the main component of a blend when mixed with traditional thinning agents like Dino, kero and RUG.

Let us know how you get on with it.

Light beer and chile beans work the best but she wont stand still for me to tank it. Ok fun over right now I'm stiking with just used motor oil there is plenty around and don't know enough about the abrasives that are put in trany fluids.I have a friend in on this with me with a 96 Dodge that we are using to test with. We started out with 2 gal new oil 30 wt added to 18 gal Wvo this is as far as we have got in the first week. The truck is still runing. When My ford get out of the shop new trany needed that will be what we use for most of the testing of WMO. Will keep you all informed Thank

I'm blending 50% #2,25% WVO and 25% WMO. The cummins smokes some when cold , but the 6.9 ford dont seem to mind. Look around here also http://www.oilburners.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=96

It's been a little why'll getting back to my WMO and WVO experement but it has been going well I started of at 10% and am now at 30% WMO and 70% WVO with no problems after 2600 miles. I think that is as far as I'm going with it % wise. The only thing I cant get over is that it always looks so dark and I'm a filtering nut. Using a CF making 40 gal batches running it in 3 cycles of 6 hrs each till I get almost no black soot remaining in the CF. I.m gona pull the filters at 3000 I'll let you know how thay look.
