hi all, I'm new here...just getting started and I'm wndering about the diaphram in my pressure tank. Will just piercing it do the trick? Seems like wvo would get caught up in it and not drain propperly. Am I missing something? Is it possible to remove it? Thanks for your help...I have a million more ?'s but we'll start here.

figzag,
I assume that your (water?) pressure tank is to be used as a collection? vessel.
Could you please describe exactly what you are doing with the pressure tank.

While we are experienced in the use of renewable fuels, we cannot read minds very well at all.Frown

sorry, I thought the catagory "oil collection tank" on the tutorial page forum would have summed it up...anyway yes, I am attempting a vaccum collection tank utilizing a water preasure tank as described in tutorial. I am just wondering about the diaphram (bladder?) inside.

The bladder will most likely be punctured by the time you have the tank, so just rip it out, to ensure it does not interfere with your operations.

wow...I tried but after much strugle I would have to say ripping it out is next to imposible. It seems to be permanatly attatached to the tank...but a large hole at the bottom seems like it will work out alright...but in my exploration of this tank I found another potential problem. The tank is sectioned in two with a concave piece of steel with a hole in the middle. My concern is that some WVO will sit on this devider and not drain. Is that a problem? Does it go bad? I think these water pressure tanks might be more trouble than they are worth. I will continue with this one but I think my next attempt will be with a propane tank: no internal parts... A tip on old propane tanks:you can clear them of residual LP by filling them with water, very simple...anyway, thanks for your thoughts
