Well, this came as a complete surprise:

Late birthday gift from my cousin. Like, wow! I've got some work ahead of me. Incidentally, copper is beautiful.

Kumar, I find it interesting that you posted the pictures of your new still in the ETHANOL section rather than the METHANOL section. Hmmmmmmm!

Seriously, nice looking unit. I built one that looks very similar to yours. It works well on both methanol and higher order alcohols.

I don't plan on using this to recover methanol (I don't think it's anywhere near big enough to be useful to me on that level). I plan on using it to make small quantities of ethanol to experiment with. My feedstock will probably be secondary winery mash.

Incidentally, anyone know of a good ethanol crop to rotate with mustard? I'm going to look into sunchokes, which might work, if I have my seasons right.

Just remember you must have a permit form the ATF to distil ethanol legally.

Oh yeah. Lots of stuff like that. I'll have to poison it with methanol as well. Thanks, though.

Jerusalem artichokes; high starch, good yield, especially where you are. An idea.
