I have many expired virgin 500 gallon propane tanks available for $225 each and a few 300 gallon tanks for $150 each. I also can get 1000 gallon tanks from time to time. I am located close to Findlay, Ohio and can deliver up to six 500 gallon tanks at a time. These tanks are NOT to be reused for propane but can be used for MANY other uses. Thanks, Paul.

Hey Joe,
I have had several people mention building pig roasters out of these. There are several on Ebay made out of 250,300,500 and even 1000 gallon tanks. The smallest tanks, 250 & 300 gallon, are about 9'x2 1/2'. The 500 gallon are 9'x3 1/2' and the 1000 gallon are 16'x3 1/2'. If I can be of any more help, let me know. Thanks, Paul.

I wish you were closer to Omaha. I have a wood boiler in my pole barn that will heat the shed plus my home this winter. 1000-1500 gallons of storage would allow me to fire it only when it is convienent for me and tap the stored hot water when I'm at work, sleeping, etc. The boiler is made to "idle" when there is no demand for heat but it runs much more efficiently "wide open" and no smoke or cresote. Others with boilers like me (Hearth.com forums) have been using old (or new) propane tanks but old ones have to be cleaned well because of the mercaptan. The ideal situation would be a tank not up to snuff for propane but still able to handle 180-190 degree water. They would be under very little pressure compared to propane use. What does it cost to transport tanks? I've just seen the little trailers here that carry one at a time. Where do you find expired or "flawed" tanks? Is there a local business in my are that may have them too?

Randy,
You might try looking for old Anhydrous tanks, I would think that there would be some in Nebraska with all the corn that is planted there. They are basically the same tank. I haul the tanks on my flat bed trailer and pyramid stack them and bind them down with chain binders and straps.

I have many 360 gal tanks if any one needs them.
I can get the exact measurements off the data plate as needed.
They are short and stubby tanks 41" in diameter but I don't remember the length, maybe 5' or 6' long. I'm in the southwest tennessee area. $200 per tank.

I see I should have posted here. I'm interested in the 300 gallon tanks, and I'm in Ohio, though on the other side. Do you know the dimensions?

Thanks!

Paul,

I'm looking for a tank I can use for propane. How do I get a tank recertified or do you know of anyone in the area selling tanks used or refurbed?

Thanks!

JW,
There were some refurbished propane tanks in the NW Autotrader magazine a few weeks ago. You might go online autotrader and see if they are still there.

Still have some 360 gal and 500 gal tanks if anyone needs them.
I'm in southwest TN. $150 and $175. Thanks,Randall
email for dimensions and weight if needed. Weight is approx 1.8 lbs per gal of tank.
So a 360 gal is 648 lbs. Lot of Steel
