I purchased a 5 (US) gallon carboy for my appleseed to mix and add methoxide. Then, today, when making my first batch, I used the Recipe Calculator for a 25 gallon batch and found that I needed to add 5.5 gallons of methanol!

Anyone have a recommendation for larger containers for adding, or am I just going to have to scale down my batches?

Brian,

Until recently, I used to use 2 carboys, since I often use around 7 gallons of methanol. A friend who lives near a car wash got me a 7 gallon carboy. It was free, but he had to go back and find a lid. Look around. I am not sure where, but these must be available somewhere to buy.

Works great and cuts down my time per batch a bit.

My batches require 10 gallons. I mix in a 15 gallon carboy I got at a car wash for free.
