Can't seem to find anything on here in regards to this.

I'm out of IPA and I pay something like $19/qt for it, so I'd rather not do that if I don't have to.

Is there any reason using methanol in place of IPA won't work in the same way?

Hi MarquisV11

I've just tried it and it doesn't seem to work.

Not sure of the scientific reason, sorry.

IPA at Walmart 91% is only $3 or $4.
You dont need lab grade. Even 71% will work fine.

I'll have to disagree with that, as I just tried with 70% and the sample turned all milky when I added the bio. I don't feel confident trying to get a reading from that, plus I'm not sure how the water content would affect the results.

Anybody else know why methanol won't work?
