Please spend a lot of time educating yourself by reading the relevant threads at the various WVO forums before you go into this . With the level of mechanical ability and knowledge you have mentioned , you would be far better off going with a Vegistroke kit from http://www.dinofuelalternatives.com/ . It is expensive but is well proven and they have great customer service . You will make up up for the price in fuel cost savings pretty fast without having a lot of trouble along the way . You could save some $ by purchasing a manually vs automatically controlled system .

Depending on the climate you are located in , you might want to consider blending (start and purge for shutdown on diesel tank ) -

Do not use the existing mild steel tank for WVO because of polymerization problems. You will need to use a aluminum, plastic or stainless steel tank .

Howdy, welcome to the SVO world!

I drive pretty much the same truck ('96). I am one year and 25,000 miles into my conversion. Plenty of little headaches and problems to solve, but overall no major issues.

I run a goldenfuel system. The front underbelly tank I converted to be my "clean" veg tank, the back underbelly tank I left as the diesel tank, and I put a 60 gallon tank in the bed as a "dirty" veg tank. The goldenfuel system is by no means the most flashy system, but IT WORKS.

I run veg through that steel tank and it has done just fine.

The biggest problem that I have run into with the Ford is that both fuel systems have to go through the stock fuel filter, which can be a source of restriction. I only notice it when towing.

I see your post is a couple months old, so I won't write more right now. If you are still contemplating systems, want to know more about mine, or have questions about your Ford, I'd be happy to try and help. Plenty of folks gave me a lot of help along the way.

Good luck!
