Wanting to Tee off of the engine oil pressure switch, and wanted to know which would be better to use. Don't know which will be safer to use for vibrations and such. Don't want to lose oil pressure because a $2 part broke.

Brass is the softest (I wouldn't use it on a vehicle)
maleable iron is second (only if you have nothing else)
cast iron third (but not terrible)
forged steel (excellent choice) some would say it's overkill
Stainless Steel (a good choice but not required)

Hope this helps

Brass is $2, steel is $6 plus shipping from McMasterCarr, and SS is $18. Any idea where to look for one?

Looks like this

or I guess a regular tee would work too

Stainless steel can fail without warning if subjected to stress events. However I would think that failure would be highly unlikely.
Personally I think brass is king but that is a personal preference based on experience.

Alright, two opposing viewpoints. Anyone else have comments?

Brass is the only way to go. Stainless is a waste of money. If you mount it firmly there is no stress. If you connect it to hose the hose will take up any stress.

Brass is way good enough as long as you don't by junk fittings.
