Yes, if the fuel passes the 3/27 test it is more than likely to pass ASTM as well as this thread points out.

Thanks Legal and Tilly for that thread. I get more amazed every day at the systems this group has put together. I had just ass umed that with WVO you would never hit that standard at all let alone consistantly. With some luck and 10 trips to the dump I will have about 1000 sq' to start processing in this spring so then I will really understand, lol.

These guy's were even at the National Biodiesel Board conference. You can read about them in SpeedRacer's post on the NBB Conference Scorecard. I believe dodgeram was the one that reported on them.

Yeah , this one is by far my favorite of the cheap plastic units . If you look real close you can see the high power heating elements mounted right in front of each of his poly tanks . If the methanol in the HF pump doesn't get a fire going these heaters are there just to be sure . This is what you do when you want to have an accident (read Insurance Scam) .

What's the red thing on the front just below the pump?
Where's the Methoxide tank on that thing?
Also, those pumps must be a royal PITA to prime!

The red things in front of the pumps are the Watlow heaters . Really good industrial heaters , but the grey things right under them are the cheap plastic hose fittings everyone uses on thier processors . I am not really sure they are able to handle the direct heat they are subject to in this application . The methoxide tank is the smaller tank all th way to the right in the pic . It also uses the same plastic fittings and a HF pump to recirculate the methanol . I have used the plastic fittings on tons of things , but never in a crucial area like some places this guy has them . I would think for the prices he is asking he could have done a much better job of putting this system together .

Anyone else notice the waiver?

"The equipment and chemicals for producing biodiesel can be dangerous. The customer takes full responibility for the safety and security of the storage, handling and use of all equipment and supplies related to making biodiesel using the products and supplies listed above."

That "use" seems to protect them from any liability should the worst happen.

Do you think that other processors that are not plastic have no waivers? Im sure they do, no company wants to take responsibilty in someone using even good equipment improperly.

Brent:

Most reputable manufacturers will warranty their equipment for defects in materials or workmanship. I didn't see anything in their literature to this effect.

Barring the presence of the warranty, all we have is the liability waiver, which seems to protect them, not the buyer.

Equipment abuse or misuse should not be covered. An equipment manufacturer, confident in their product, WOULD warranty that product.

Alright I see what you meant now. They are not warranting there product for defects/workmanship but more or less trying to protect themselves.

They aren't warrantying them period. No warranty at all. You get what you get & then if it's not what it's supposed to be your S-O-L.

Graydon--Did you ever see a price? I think I looked everywhere, but did not find. Tells me that the unit is overpriced. So, what else is new?
