Can the marine bilge pump (12V) from Harbor Freight be used to transfer BD from one vessel to another, or is it going to be too much for it?! I need a way to transfer BD from settling to finished barrel.

Ideally, I'd like to filter in the processes (Whole house filter or a GR 10 micron filter) - not sure this can be done with the 12V pump like that or if I should upgrade to a 1" water pump for that purpose?!

It will work for about two or three batches. Find a better pump.

It might work for up to five times. What happens is bd eats the impeller.

ShurFlo has a pump in 115V and 12V that will do the job nicely. I have both. The 115V I use for transfer from settling to demething, circulation during demething and then from demething through lead/lag resin beds finalising through a 2 micron CAT filter. The only add on I did was a small fan flowing air over the pump to cool it during long use times. I also use on for my recovry condenser set up. The Santoprene and Viton hold up extremely well and all parts are easy to replace if/when needed.

I have the 12V version as the tractor fule station pump; 3 years on full of B100 even through freezing in the winter. It thaws and just keeps right on going.
