Would any name brand be okay, or should it be DAP?

Dap is the brand I used. On the topic of pipe dope ect, I tried that and it works for awhile but eventually the biodiesel leaks through. I have even used the pipe dope designed for fuel/gas fittings with equally poor results.

A US brand used here called gasoila proved quite useless.

Straight threads can't be tightened, and the Italian range of ball valves commonly sold here have female threads that bottom out before going tight.

I found Wurth pipe sealant excellent but expensive - it contains dimethylacrylate which is a methyl ester. Google it.
