Looking for some advice on what type of hose to use for my supersucker.
I've been using 1.5 inch PVC and it only lasts about 5 months before it gets stiff and cracks when bent, sometimes spilling oil everywhere.
I don't want to pay a fortune but would'nt mind paying a bit more for something that would last.

Well speak of the devil...
We were just discussing that issue HERE.
It seems EPDM is the way to go, Murphy has been using it for 3 years trouble free...

The most common plasics are going to be susceptible to degredation from UV light. In other words if your sucker is stored outside...
There was someone on here a while ago with Varco pumper (I think) saying this is what the vac truck comercial guys use or something to that effect.

I've had a couple of the ribbed pool hoses fail over the past few years. I'm now using 1" ABS well pipe. Not very weildy but I had alot of it left over. I wouldn't recomend it anyone that has to purchase it. No signs of degredation though.

Thanks guys:

Next question. Does anybody have a source for tank truck suction hose or edpm thats reasonably priced? I don't think $3.00 per foot is unreasonable if it lasts for three years or so.
I was never sure if my hose was hardening up because of the oil or being in the New Mexico sun, probably both.

We went through a few different kinds as well. Without question you need tiger green hose, its flexible enough and very durable

Never mind that tip. The WH series is clear PVC. Still a good price.

Thanks for all the help. I found some black EPDM rubber hose with wire braid reinforcement for $2.75 a foot. I also found Tiger stripe hose for $1.52 a foot. The manufacturer says neither is rated for vegetable oil but if I can get three years out of it I'll be thrilled.
