I'm a noob to bioD. I just purchased Graydon's instructions for the appleseed. I was able to ge a used water heater for free, but once I got it home, on closer inspection, I see that it only has two ports on top, the hot and cold water ports, with no third port for the anode thing. Will this work? If it will, what mods will I need to make? I have attached a picture (hopefully I did that right). Thanks much!

So is the Apple Turnover my best bet then for a two top port HWW? This will be my first one to build.

I make a special port that allows you to put two 3/4 inch pipes into the two inch bung on a drum. This allows you to make an appleseed-like processor from a drum with no welding or mods to the drum. About the same size batch as a WH, but less expensive, and modular. There is no limit to how many drums you use, just transfer the fitting from drum to drum. HTH
