Howdy there,

I have been doing some simulations with my new appleseed processor that I recently purchased from Utah Biodiesel Supply and have a couple of questions about the temperature settings of the unit.

Simulation information:
30 gal processor
15 gal of water heated to 130F
3 gal of water (75F) simulated methoxide
1 gal of water (60F) simulated pre-wash

The injection of 3 gal of methoxide resulted in temperature drop to 122.5F

The injection of 1 gal of pre-wash resulted in temperature drop to 118F

Questions:

1. Can I set thermostat to 140F to allow for temperature drop to 130F for conversion process since methanol boils at 148.46F?

2. Can the element be turned back on to raise the temperature to 130F after injection of methoxide as long as the element is under the 10 gal mark on my 30 gal processor?

Thanks for any input,

RIT

Doesn't oil retain heat more than water?

Howdy again,

I finally started up the processor with WVO and methoxide and found out that my simulations with water were totally useless. I followed the directions as posted by girl mark and produced a mighty fine batch of fully converted bio.

Thanks y'all
