Ok, thanks for the explanation. Makes sense. So coming out of the water heater, (top to bottom) it would be:

-pipe nipple
- 45 degree elbow
- venturi
- 45 degree elbow (to get the pipe running vertically)
- varying combination of pipes and ball valves down to the pump

Is that correct?
