i need some help guys. i got a old water heater and it had a hole in it so i went and bought a new one and all is well right! well i was setting up everything today and i decided to stick my finger in the bottom of my new heater the bottom is concaved and the fitting for the glycerine drain is probablly a full half inch higher than the extreme bottom of the tank. isn't this going to cause a lot of grief? how did you guys overcome this issue? i know i cant get all the glcerine out of this tank so what to do? it seems i read a while back about putting fiberglass resin in the bottom and leaning the tank so the resin should set up angled to the drain. have any of you guys tried this or heard of it? sorry for such a long post and thanks in advance for any and all replies

Flip it upside down. It will then have a cone bottom.

My tank has a port at the top on the side that normally would hold the T&P relief valve. For biodiesel processing it wouldn't normally be used, so I put short nipple, an elbow and then a quick connect for a compressor hose. The coupling is above where any fluid would be and normally I keep a pressure gauge mounted in it (just for kicks as it never actually gets enough pressure to register and because it acts as a plug). At the end of a process, I hook up the air compressor and blast out (takes about 10 seconds) any residual glycerine out of the tank through the bottom drain. This seems to have helped me as I believe I was having trouble with incomplete processes due to remaining water-laden (from 5% prewash) glycerine sitting in the tank. Good luck. -Glen
