The first post in this thread is simply an advertisement for Green Maui Guide. They've got some kind words to say about electric vehicles in general, but you're right - there're no kits.

Electro Automotive out of Felton CA (www.electroauto.com) has kits for a couple "specific" vehicles and universal kits that you need to modify that will fit numerous vehicles.

I hear they're a little slow, so I'm dealing with a guy out of San Diego (www.electracitymotors.com)...they don't have kits, but I'm piecing it together myself.

My current project is a Jeep Wrangler. I'm sacrificing some range for the "cool factor" of the Jeep. It's on the heavy end, but will probably get a 20 to 30 mile range on each charge. The good thing about the jeep is that there is lots of room for batteries.

A lot of people expect and EV to be a replacement for an internal combustion vehicle...they simply don't have the range to do "everything" an IC vehicle will do. However, most people use them as a "first" car for around town trips and relatively short commutes. Most have a "second" car for longer trips when the EV is not appropriate....

I'm hoping to use the jeep for most of our family driving. It will drop my biodiesel production! Less work is always better!!

See also EVparts website, especially the Maniac Mazda (11 second 1/4 mile!!) Rodrick Wilde sold me the parts I'm using to convert my TR7. EVparts sells some exceptionally well engineered kits for VW's, S-10's and others, in addition to lots of parts that will save time if you're building your own.
Cheers,
