Is it possible to create an engine sump pump that incorporates an electric motor when the engine is not running? Some kind of one-way clutch design, which pre-pressurizes the oil galleries prior to fire-up, and continues to provide oil to hi-temp components...like turbo bearings...after shut-down?

Yes, many of the large V-12 and V-16 engines I've worked on had an oil pre-luber. Basically it was an external oil pump driven by a 12 volt motor (it looked like a starter motor). These were used to pressurize the oil system before starting the big engine. Some stationary units I've seen had a small pup engine that ran a hydraulic pump that fed the hydraulic starter on the big engine. Really cool!

However, for our small car engines, yes, there are companies that make pre-lubers. Look here:

for an example. Blessings, Joe Smile

Way to much work. Some racers use a preluber to prime their engine before starting it. It is basically a pressurized tank with a shutoff valve. While the engine is runing, oil pressure enters the tank. Shut off the valve before the engine is shut off and you have a tank with oil and pressure. Turn on the tank before starting the engine, and prelubed it is.
Moroso (racing equipment ) has one. Do a google search for Moroso and look in oil section.
BTW, some also leave the valve on during racing. When you enter a corner, or let off the throttle at the end of the track the pre luber serves to keep oil to the engine.

Pre-luber is a product that has been around a few years. It pre-charges the oil before startup and continues to circulate oil after shut down to better cool the engine, particularly important on turbos.

I confess, I bought one years ago and never installed it..... couldn't figure out which vehicle to put it on. Then I just plain old forgot about it. I'm thinking of adding it to my '02 PSD.
