I'm new here so hello to all.

My mother is wanting to replace her old freestanding oil stove with a new one. Are there any recommendations for a quality unit that would ignite itself? Burning biodiesel would be a big plus.

Does the biodiesel burn any hotter or colder than #1 and #2 oils? Is 35,000 btu output sufficient to heat a 1,000 sq. ft. house in the Louisville, Ky. area?

I have researched the Napoleon OS10 and OS11. I don't know if they'll burn biodiesel or not. I have checked out the Tharrington 5135 but I don't think that it has an ignition unit.

What is the difference between an L-Vent and an A-Vent system? The Napoleon OS10 has to have a different carburetor with an L-Vent system.

I want to thank you for any answers in advance.

Danny

Place banana in your ear.
Observe that there is no alligators around.
Conclude bananas placed in ears keep aligators away.

I am currently getting a Efel oil stove running or should say trying to get to run on biodiesel. It is the same design as the one you are interested in. They are simple and logical to run and care for. However I am having trouble running it on B100. It is running on B30 as I write this but the heat out put is very low. I am mixing bd with diesel but am going to get some home heating oil to try as it has a higher BTU rating. The Kuma seems to run very well on B100 and has the same type of system of fuel metering and pot design so I am stumped as to what is going on.

If I recall right Kuma did say it had lower output on bio-d. I just got an email from Pioneer who also says theirs seems to run on B-20 but with lower output.

I have run my EFEL with great success on diesel, about to start my tests with a bd rated carb, more later. My hope is the new carb will have enough range in it's fuel metering to allow me to run diesel when the temp gets below 35 f.
