I have a dual fuel Central Boiler outdoor water boiler that heats my house and two greenhouses. The dual fuel bit means that it came with a Beckett AFG burner and can be configured to run on wood only, HHO only, HHO as a backup, or HHO as a starting aid. Because everything is outside we placed the oil storage tank in the greenhouse that is closest to the boiler. We have configured a hose on hose arrangement using the hot water return line for the distance between the green house and the boiler. The tank is also wrapped in 1/2 pex pipe plumbed into the slab hot water lines with a coil coming off that piping and encircling the fuel filter. The tank and pex is wrapped with insulation. The only problematic points are where the fuel line (3/8 aluminum auto fuel line) exits the greenhouse with a 90° bend to the buried line and comes back up into the pump on the burner. Currently those areas are covered with insulation. I have wired two Beckett starter helper ceramics to the exposed fuel line between the pump and nozzle and the nozzle head. This will provide constant 140°F temps at those points. I originally swapped the Beckett/Suntec CleanCut fuel pump for a Webster but I could not get the Webster to work properly due to the solenoid arrangement for the Beckett pump. I have gone back to the Beckett pump and we shall see how long the seals last.
We have yet to fire the burner. I will report back when we do. We will be starting with a 50/50 bio-hho mix. Our feedstock is hydrogenated donut oil and the gel point is just under 49°F. This will be used primarily as a back up to the wood heat so gelling in the fuel line is an issue. |

Hello Skeet Shooter,
Last night the temps were down to 28F. (adams county) yours might have been colder. The tank and burner are outside attached to my Mahoning Outdoor Furnace. The b-100 temp this am was 32 F Everything worked OK. I will let you lnow when it stops working, unless this happens next Monday (Buck season) DGF |

The suntec pump website now shows a biofuels page (here).
It indicates they have tested and approved there pumps for "B5" (5% biodiesel/95% fueloil), Also testing B20, not acceptable as there will likely be minor shaft leaks, will be testing B100 in the future. |

I'm very curious as to how this is working out for you. My goal is to burn B100 and/or HHO at any given point in time based on availability. Recently, I've pulled the lines out of my HHO storage tank and stuck them in a gallon of B100. I fired the furnace and cycled it five or six times. It worked fine with no issues (that I could detect). It ignited every time. I have a Carlin burner with a Suntec pump. I've been told the proper way to burn B100 is to get the Webster Bio-pump, increase the pressure, add a nozzle heater, a smaller nozzle and increase the air flow. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= If you think you can or if you think you can't, then you are probably right. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

Have all of those recommendations been for B100? Those sound like running straight wvo/svo. The Webster bio pump does have viton seals. So that will help. What is the source of the other recommendations? C. Pump and Heater controllers are a must have. I received this information from the yahoo forum. I'll paste it here for you to check out. All credit for this goes to the altfuelfurnace guys.
If you going to run B100 in your oil burner, there are a few changes you might want to consider before trying it. 1. bump up the nozzle 1 size, i.e., if you are running a .75. goto a .85. 2. Open the air vanes another 1/16" to 1/8"- varies, but watch after a warm-up and adjust out the smoke. 3. Increase the pump pressure from the standard HHO pressure of 100psi to 150psi. 4. Finally, depending on how cold it is where the furnace is located, you might have to add a Beckett or Carlin nozzle pre-heater, about $35 from Patriot Supply to get the burner fire on a startup. I don't like recommending these guys as they've jacked up the price of the Webster biodiesel pumps from originally $45 to $75, so if you can find the nozzle heater cheaper, let me know. These preheaters come with wiring instructions and are easy to install. 5. This final adjustment is a little trickier: sometime the fire eye, or sometimes called the cad cell safety cutout, shuts the oil burner down after 15-30 seconds. This is because biodiesel burns dimmer than HHO. The cad cell interprets this as a no-flame status and shuts the system down. Fixes for this have been to clean the blast tube real well and spray with high temp silver paint OR move the cad cell forward, fabricating a longer clip. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= If you think you can or if you think you can't, then you are probably right. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

What type of piping do I use to connect my B100 fuel storage tank to my oil burner. Currently my system has a copper piping.
I'm also planning on keeping my existing oil tank as a backup. Any ideas how to connect two fuel storage tanks to the same oil burner. Thanks, |

Can't you just cut the feed line and put a TEE in with each tanks line valved off so you can select which tank to use?
Anyone know if the Reflex stoves I hear about are boat or home stove. |

Here's what I did to use either/both/different ratios of fuel.
