hello all,

i've survived the winter with my ugly babington, and now it's time to try to make it a bit more user friendly. here's a list of the things i'd like to improve.

fuel pump:
i was using a submersible pond pump. it was unpredictable and wouldn't let me drain the whole tank. i'd like something that runs on 110V, has smallish inlet and outlet, and can run for an hour or two without getting too hot or destroying itself. i figure i need about 30-60 GPH of oil, which i figure means 150GPH-ish for water.

i'd like to incorporate a flow sensor/restrictor/meterer. the most unpredictable part of my setup over this last winter was the variation in temperature of the fuel and the total flow. i've solved the temperature regulation, but don't have any good ideas on a source for the flow meterer. i'd love to scavenge something if anyone had any suggestions.

that's good for starters,

nick

Well, There's this,

Or you could use a harbor frieght pump to pump all that oil..

That's one draw back to the babington's.. they need a large and constant flow..

Another option would be a gear pump with a DC motor and speed control..

i've looked at the harbor freight pumps and they all seem like overkill, or they're 12V. i'd love the gear pump, but i'm looking for suggestions on specific pumps.

thanks,

nick
