BIODIESEL FIRE CLOSES CENTRAL MAUI LANDFILL

May 4 2009
A biodiesel tanker fire at the Central Maui Landfill yesterday forced the closure of the facility for about 3 hours. The fire was reported at 10:48 a.m. when Pacific Biodiesel reported a fire at a holding tank. The company’s biodiesel production plant is located at the landfill site. Fire engines from the Wailuku, Kula and Kahului fire stations responded along with the HAZMAT crew and 2 water tankers. The landfill was re-opened shortly after 1:30 p.m.

Was this reported in an actual newspaper? I want to email Bob King and make sure everyone and everything is alright, but this seems to be the only record of this on the internet.

The fire was caused by fumes in an empty tank. The biodiesel plant was not damaged, and no one was injured or harmed in any way.
