I need to sell this car ASAP for whatever anyone is willing to pay for it. Due to my situation, I can't part it out or keep it. Please read below and contact me if you have questions, want more details or pictures, and to make an offer. I'm willing to deliver vehicle within 50 miles of Chicago for any buyer.
I have the car listed on Ebay (Item #220488338412 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...em&item=220488338412) in case I get no offers here. Please see ebay page for pictures. I bought this car nearly two years ago, fixed it up, converted it to vegetable oil, and drove it as my daily car until February of this year when I bought a newer car. I drove it weekly until July when I started having transmission problems (see below). This car has had a fair bit of work and parts put into but does have issues and high mileage (~269k miles). There is no signs of a head crack, virtually no rust, and I have always used Rotella Synthetic oil. 2 Tank, Quick-Purge System: I designed and installed my own vegetable oil (VO) system to do three things: Failsafe for reliability, quick warm up time, and even quicker purge time. I control three valves and an axillary electric tank heater using two rocker switches. A combination of 3/4” ID hose and a beefy Walbro pump allow me to pump non heated VO to the engine compartment. I used nice relay set with each part individually fused. The master is relayed to the ignition accessory so nothing is on until you first turn the key. Parts include: Walbro FRB-5 Pump $95 HydraForce aluminum solenoid valves (2 @ $80 each) 3-way Pollak valve $55 18 Gallon aluminum Mirax fuel tank $60 30 plate FPHE $97 Boss relay and wiring kit from mercedessource.com $60 Cimtek filter and head (10 micron with hydrosorb) $30 60W Silicon pad heater for fuel tank $30 Associated parts, hardware, wire, fuel hose, electronic temp guage, two rocker switches, etc, at least $150 Work I have completed on the car: Replaced all fuel lines with Viton or Biodiesel spec Super-Flex XL Replaced transmission fluid and filter Replaced all glow plugs with Bosch Duratherm Replaced vacuum pump with new Pierburg pump, $350 part (important, search “om603 vacuum pump”) Replaced headlight bezel/door and new fog and driving bulbs Replaced grill (cheap aftermarket grill that now has rust spots) Replaced OVP relay Replaced all 4 tires Coolant flush and replacement Fuel filters Items that need attention: Oil drain plug is stripped (I use topsider pump to change oil) Climate control unit is going bad, works intermittently (heat is failsafe) Rear window switches don't work Rear passenger window regulator is broke (is pinned into place 2 with rubber washers) Neutral safety switch sometimes flakes out (have to start in neutral when this happens) Parking break cable broke at rear hinge on under-body Body damage on both front quarter panels, back windshield has crack, interior wear, front ACC/radio console is apart at the moment Big item that needs attention: This summer while driving the vehicle, the K2 spring failed. The K2 is involved in shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. As a result, the transmission flares (engine rpms rev up quickly) during this shift. When driving, its best to release the accelerator for a 2-3 seconds until 3rd gear engages. The transmission shifts normally at all other times and when selecting lower gears on the shifter. I have a spring kit to replace this springs as well as the unrelated B2 piston ($150 part) for preventative maintenance. I planned to replace both when working on the transmission but I must sell the car now. |
