I got this car about 10 years ago with a blown engine. The original engine was replaced with a 1.6 turbo engine from a 92 Jetta. Engine seals were replaced when installed in car. The engine has about 190,000 miles. It's due for a timing belt replacement. The springs, struts and brakes are GTI models. The strut mounts need to be replaced. The radiator and windshield, hood and lights were replaced after a losing battle with a deer. A/C doesn't work, but is repairable. I have parts. Glow plugs and relay are new. Body and interior are fair. Still, she's reliable and faster than my 98 TDI (boost and fuel are bumped up). I have one too many cars and I don't want to let her sit all winter. Hello all, just to be clear, this is a 1.6 TURBODIESEL engine. My bad. I have been brutally honest about the car's condition. It ain't pretty, but it is the most reliable car I've ever had. You can drive it home to anywhere, no problem.

Considering the state of the economy, $2k is unrealistic. I just bought 2 Kubota 4 1902's, and a Mitsubishi 3 cylinder with a 3 phase generator for $500. They all run perfect and use no oil.
