I know I haven't read all posts in the this section so if there's link..please let me know Smile

what I would like to know and or build(maybe)..
is something to melt copper and other metals..but using a fuel source that ties into BD making..ie glycerin..or even biodiesel? or WVO? used motor oil.
in general those are waste stream for making biodiesel..
sure used motor oil is an indirect result..and only if you need to drive something to collect oil.
side track..

is it possible to use the above to make a furnace that can melt copper..iron..brass..
I would think AL, lead and other low melting point metals would be easy.

What I'm trying to do is use one hobby as a source of fuel for another?
I make biodiesel already..so could that be a source of fuel to melt metals for the other?

if you design ideas..please share..

things I have to play with..
burner units from oil fired boiler and furnace..pumps..
thinking about something like a rocket stove but using a fan to inject more air and pumping gylcerin in the burn to increase the heat..something like 2200F or so.

thoughts??

Dave :
Hope your doing well!!

I saw Murphy ( Murphy's Machines ) answer a couple of questions somewhere in here
that led me to believe he has a degree in Thermodynamics !!
His heater is probably capable of generating that kind of heat .
Good luck
Tom

You could melt anything you want with this burner I made.

I have used a much less powerful one in a brick oven and melted copper with little trouble.
