Hi there;

My WVO oil titration is 0,6 ml. and I added 5 gr Naoh and washed three times and got good result in 5,24 gram accidently ( wrong-measure due to lucky scale)according to 3,1 gr, 3,56 gr, 4,1 gr, 5,6 gr,6 gr, 6,25 gr and 6,5n NaOH. What is the relation ship between 0,6 ml and 5,24 dram Naoh. Meanwhile I tested virgin sunflower oil which was 0,4 ml. Altough Literarly, I followed all instruction, Why did I fail?

Was your titrating solution 1%? If so, then 0.6mL would be 5.6 g/L (with a base of 5). With 20-22% methanol and a processing temp of 50-60 deg C, you should make very nice BD. Water in the oil would be a killer, though. Glycerin in the wash tank is also bad news. Let us know the rest of the details. HTH Smile

Dear Chris and Joe-M;
I use solvey Naoh in +99 Purity.
Methanol: 22 %= 220 ml
Temperature = 50-60 C
I use the small Patatos Frayer as a processor and I do hand mixing. (aware of maybe loss of methoxide)
No glycren in BD
Water content is about 3,5 % at botttom of WVO storage tank. But I use upper portion of oil from Tank.

Hello ERDEM

Did you measure in grams or drams?

Hello ERDEM

In your first post in this thread you wrote "What is the relation ship between 0,6 ml and 5,24 dram Naoh."
I noticed that you use a , instead of a . for the decimal place which suggests you possibly do not come from an English speaking country.
I thought perhaps you were using scales which measure in Drams which can be either 1/16 oz (1.771g) or 1/8 oz.
If you were this would be a problem.
