Ok we got that last emulsion broke and wound up with some good Bio.Then we made two small batches around 150gal each.No problem other than a little un reacted oil.
Now we did another 320gal batch looked beautiful.25 galons of glyce came out.27\3 test was all yellow and crystal clear no oil at all.Moved it to the was tank misted in 20gal over 4hours not one bit of seperation.
Have added 15gal of hot salt water no seperation.Just added back in 15gal of glyc and are bubbleing.
Heaters are on tank is at around 130deg.
Now here is what is weired fill a mason jar.Add vinager, salt water,or glyc and they settle right out.Or if you let the tank sit we get a honey colored layer on top(looks like bio after 2-3 washes) about 180 galons. Then a white layer about 5 galons. Then a darker layer in the bottom aboout 260.
Befor we did any emulsion breaking steps we heated a jar and got the same three layers in the mason jar.
What are each of these layers? And any idea what might break this emulsion other than what we did? And why would we get these emulsions on the bigger batches bot not the 150gal batches?

how much methanol did you use on the 320 gallon batch..around 64 gallons (20%) but only got 25 gallons for glycerin out??? you should have gotten around 64 gallons or more. this alone will make an emulsion when you start washing..

do you use the 5% prewash?

WE FOUND THE GLYCERAN AND OUR WATER THEY WERE MIXING AND FORMING THE BOTTOM DARK LAYER I SAID WAS SO LARGE.
I took a test sample put in a jar let settle.Marked the top of both layers. Then added water to see which one went up.I figured if just the top then the bio was holding it.If both went up but the bottom raised the same as the amount of water added. Then the water was goiing straight into the glycerin and it looked like so much in the prosseser because we had addeed 40-50 galons.
Thanks for the hits i had some ideas just wanted to hear someone else say it.

that is also why prewashing works..it also pulls most of the soap from the biodiesel into the glycerin layer. water and glycerin like soap.
