the other thread on the BD that wouldn't dry is here.

Basically, after reprocess it still wouldn't dry right.

So, Not wanting to take a chance, I tossed it out. That was the first failed batch in over 4 years of processing.

I have some guesses as to what happened, but not sure. possible causes of failure in order of likelihood:
1. had other liquid in the batch besides oil- I only have one source, i have a 1500 gallon tank of oil that i pull from to process. I think some water and or other liquid was in the tank and got into the processor. I drained the bottom of the tank a bit and got several gallons of dirty water.

2. wet NaOh. I store the NaOH in a sealed can, but you never know.

3. not enough methanol. I guess i could have miscounted the gallons

4. the screw up fairy paid me a visit

I'm not sure.

I ran the batch as normal and it wouldn't dry. So i reprocessed and washed again and it still wouldn't dry.

The only thing that was 'different' this time, is I had a heating element go out during the batch. I couldn't change it until i drained it.

I'm open to other ideas.
