I've found a new (not good) oil source, but the oil titrates between 10-11 consistently. I've tried to mix in a previous batch of glycerin (25% by volume), heated to 120*F, mixed for an hour and let settle for an hour. I've then removed the glycerin and ended up with more stock than I started with(good). I might add that it was difficult to tell where the glycerin ended and the WVO started doing this (maybe more settling time needed). The titration is now down to around 8(good).
I then process using the 80/20 base/base method (NaOH) and when draining the glycerol after the first phase (one hour settling) I now have less stock than what I started with (by about 1/4, bad). Again maybe more settling time is needed as the glycerol is very, very "loose" and I'm sure there's a good deal of BD mixed in with it.
Example:
starting volume - 16 gallons (60.6L for Tilly..

)
after glycerin wash and reclaim(4G added) - 18 gallons (68.1L)
after 80% phase and glycerin removal - 11 gallons!!!! (41.6L)
after 20% phase (not there yet, but hopefully minimal loss)
I'd appreciate any comments on this occurence. Is this common with others with high titrating WVO??? The use of excessive materials and the amount of waste generated is really bothering me.
Thanks for any input,
Jim....
