Sorry for the dumb question guys but in my quest to find vege oil all the local shops have it sitting in 44 gallon drums and its solid!
Is this normal or do I need liquid oil?

Scotty, if the WVO is animal fat then it will be solid at normal room temp. Being winter time this is almost certainly why you are experiencing this problem.

By the way, SVO stands for "Straight Vegetable Oil". You can run some diesels on just about any oil (Waste or new) By just filtering and heating it.

Is this a yes then? After having methonal etc added will fuel remain a liquid?. Im flying a little blind until book turns up from Australia. Is there any other Kiwis playing with Bio Diesel? Which section was your suggestion for me to look up?

Scott, If it is animal fat (Tallow) then yes it will make Biodiesel. The problem is that it is only useable down to 15 or 16 deg c. Then it starts to go hard. there has been a bit of discussion on this board lately about BD made from tallow. If you look bck at dsome of my old entries you will find a lot of discussion about it. Go to the bottom of this page and type in "tallow" in the search box.

To find the discussion about "Straight Vegetable Oil" scroll back to the top of this page. On the right hand end of the thin green line you will click on "forum homes". this will take you back to the beginning. Click on the third board down.

Yes, make bd with it, but the subject of previous posts is this; in general, the freezing oint of the raw product will influnce the freezing point of the bd made from it - it will be lower for the bd compared to the original, but higher for one oil compared to a different one.

That is, bd made from solid waste, or tallow, or palm oil etc will all have higher freezing points when made into bd compared to bd made from fresh canola, soy etc
Set yourself a few hours aside and look through some old posts. We're all trying to best use this stuff, some with more sucess than others, but the discussions are here.

The last time I went out to the hospital they locked me up for three days. I finally had to get the Boy Wonder to bring the Bat Tank out and blow a hole in the wall so I could escape.
