Short Part of the post: I have lost the third capacitor on as many HF clearwater pumps. Has anyone else had this problem?

Long part: The pumps that loose the capacitor are the reaction pump, not the drying and filtering pumps. My set-up involves gravity feed to the pump and about 4' outlet pipe to the top of the reaction barrel. However, the outlet pipe does have a 6" static in-line mixer. I don't see any evidence of motor over-heating - just capacitor blow out. Since I have lost so many, I believe it may be my set-up and not the motor though. Any thoughts? Any suggestions on better, more appropriate pumps?

Thanks in advance!

Turned out to be sporadic voltage from my outlet. Instead of new motor, this last time I bought a GE capacitor and today I rigged it up. I was monitoring it and it got hot too, so I checked the voltage at the plug: 123V, then 20V, 123V, then 20V and so on. The top plug in the receptacle(the one I use for the pump since the bottom has the timer) was bad. Replaced it and now a nice smooth 122.8V and the capacitor stopped getting hot.

Check your outlets too!

Glad you found the problem, it was on the verge of triggering a new round of attacks on the HF pump.

Now, why would anybody do something like that...?
