Hello Rusty
You have used far too much NaOH in your reprocess and made lots of soap. Titrating biodiesel that does not pass Warnqvest will not tell you what you want to know. Also, if you have seperation, you do not use a Base amount of 5 because most of the oil has already been Transesterfied. There is no simple test to determine how much NaOH is required to reprocess biodiesel. The "Standard" reprocess for biodiesel made to a formula that should have passed Warnqvest (3/27) but did not is 1g NaOH mixed into 25-35ml methanol per litre of unwashed biodiesel being reprocessed and 1g NaOH mixed into 50ml methanol per litre of washed and dried biodiesel being reprocessed. Well then I suppose I have made a mess of this one then. Any idea on what I can do to recover it? The 30 liter batch is still waiting but I need to learn from this mistake by correcting the issue with this 1 liter batch.
2006 Dodge Cummins Megga Cab on B80 with no problems. |

Hello Rusty
I do not think the 1 litre of soap is recoverable. I recommend you do another 1 litre reprocess using one of the formulas I posted above and see what happens. Saint Tilly |
