So I just came across something interesting. I was reading through the discussion/arguments of single vs. base/base methods. One of the examples/link they referenced used 32 gallons WVO and 8 gallons methanol.

Now this might give better conversion but that is using 25% methanol. I would think that if you used single stage process and 25% methanol, you would get some good converted fuel, given all other measurements are correct.

I was under the impression that if you did base/base, one still uses 20% methanol?

I used to use 18% methanol single stage and was able to get good conversion with longer mix time. Since I started the 80/20 90/10 Base/Base process, I have been able to reduce my methanol to 15%.

I also do the glycerine pretreatment on the WVO.

I agree with Euro. If you use a base/base you can definitly use less methanol. If you do a single you just keep processing til you pass..
