I have a question concering values that I am getting from my wash water in my bio system. Some background:

I have a system in which I use a water heater as a reactor and wash in one of two wash tanks. I just plumbed in the drains of the wash tanks into a small drainfield. I purchased a pH meter with a cabled waterproof probe with the idea of lowering the probe through the diesel layer to thest the pH of the wash water at the bottom before draining. So far is has worked great. Once the drain water is clear (as seen through clear tubing), I start testing the water. The first reading I got was 7.96, so I washed again. This time it was 7.51. I washed again and this time it was 7.48. My tap water is 7.2. My question is this: Is this close enough to assume that the diesel is washed or does it need to be right on 7.2. Before the meter, I would have been drying it by now. I am being to particular here?

Thanks

Hello GB

I would not worry about the pH of the wash water. If it is clear that is good enough.

What do make of the fact that I bubble washed until the water was clear, but then got slightly cloudy water in a subsequent misting?

Not enough to worry about? The water settled to a "mostly" clear state after misting, but was not as clear as the settling after bubbling.
