I have found NAOH for 45.00/50lb. bag. This was at Essential Wholesale, 8850 SE Herbert Court in Clackamas just off of 82nd near I-205.

Now Methanol was trickier but I found it for 176.00/55 gal. drum, 25.00 drum deposit. They will take another company's methanol drum in exchange and you get 15.00 off deposit. Their ph# is 503-630-4163. You will pick up at their Clackamas location behind Camp Withycombe off of hwy 212.

One of my business associates supplies chemicals for water and wastewater treatment, and methanol is used as a source of carbon in waste water treatment. Getting to the heart of this price thread, methanol in 55 gallon drums is $3.36/gallon, four drum minimum, plus a $65.00 lump sum delivery charge. KOH is $1.01 per lb. in 50 lb bags.

Tarr, inc. in Auburn, WA (Seattle area) is selling methanol for $2.91/gal, plus $25 barrel deposit, 2% hazmat fee so total for 55gallon would be
$188.25 as of today, 11/22/06.

Found out a relative of mine was trying to secure me 600 gallons of filtered methanol from his employer. They wanted to give it away but not to me as they did not want me to sue them. They gave it to a renderer.

Best source locally I've found for methanol is Holtzman Oil company. They sell drums of methanol from their Mt. Jackson warehouse along I-81. Last one I bought was about 2.18 a gallon, but that's been a few months.

Who has the best price for Methanol in Colorado, I know Brandimere Speedway in Denver is selling Methanol for $3.35 a gallon.
Does anyone else have a cheaper place?

Dec 4th update - I am heading into Tarr (Portland, Oregon, 503.288.5294) to get a barrel of Methanol. I just called and their price is $3.82/gal.

Would it be possible to sort or otherwise break this list down by state or geographic regions? Or maybe implement a standard so that the thread is more easily searchable? This thread is a great idea/resource, but sifting through 10 plus pages to find a supplier in one's area can be cumbersome. Thanks!

There's nothing the moderators can do to change the order of postings here, but if one of you guys takes the time to pull all these down and make a text file that's organized by region (and post it or email it to me), I can then alter the existing thread with the newly-organized information.
