I think we need a "sticky" that explains the "Diesel Secretion" is garbage.

That sticky is a good idea. Perhaps it would be a link to a FAQ.
It would also be useful if there was a list of things that AREN'T BS. Thanks, Chris 12 second 1999 CTTD Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with a ridiculous amount of Torque. 1996 CTD Ram 2500, 4x4, the "farm truck", bought pre-scratched and pre-dented so I wouldn't have to worry about the first one of either. |

It could also be an article at http://www.biodieselcommunity.org although that could be considered controversial and the idea should be discussed with all the members of that site first.

I would also be willing to host a 'debunker' article at localb100.com (it's about to get a few new articles updating the topic of "commercial/small scale commercial" biodiesel). that way it's my own opinions and no one can blame anyone else but me for giving away any diesel secrets or bad-mouthing other stuff. I'd be happy to take on any of the above snake oil peddlers in court by the way if it ever came to that for posting a debunker article.

Ok, I am not up to date as you all are. I just recently found and joined the board. Unfortunatly I also bought Diesel Secret product prior to finding this board.
Here is my questions: If you can use WVO with a conversion kit in your car, why couldnt you do it with this product if it 'thins out' the oil to make it flamable/usable? What am I not seeing here? ~Mann. |

I'm betting its because you could get the same effect by just mixing in petro diesel, for cheaper.

Welcom to this forum. Could you explain to this forum how diesel secret works. What is the chemical used, set up of equipment and procedure. I think some of us just guessing whats involved, but do not have solid back ground. Did it work for you? Some chemicals may or could damage the engine. So far by useing bio diesel or svo-wvo I would know what kind of chemical I have and also what it could do to my engine and or health. My knowlege is not to great about this yet ,but I shure hunt for it. Some-one on this forum will get you the answers. Thank you....Johann.... |

Here is the Diesel Secret mix:
All ratios are based on the amount of oil you are mixing with. Kerosene - 10% (or dino diesel @ 20%) Regular Unleaded Gasoline - 5% Diesel-Kleen + Cetane Boost ~ .7 oz / gal (estimate based on chart) DSE Alternative Diesel Fuel Additive (this is what they are selling and is said to prevent gelling and remove water. Bottle says, "Contains Naphtha, Xylene, and Napthalene") ~ .17 oz /gal (estimate based on chart) |

Sounds vaguely like a Kugel mix with a snake oil additive. Why use the snake oil? '05 Jeep Liberty CRD '83 Benz 240D with 617.952 OBK #35 When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace -- Jimi Hendrix |

That is the same formulation that svo-folks use at the svo forum. But without the additive.Nothing new.
Naphtha and Napthalene if I remember right lowers the flashpoint.Gasoline and kerosene is added to lower the viscosity.Diesel-Kleen + Cetane Boost to bring the cetane rating up. Well...,at least veggie oil is used . 20 gal vo,3 gal petro = 23 gal . |

I'm a newbie... so excuse the dumb question, but what exactly is wrong with this formula? Does it not work? Does it harm the engine? Other disadvantages? Of course it costs more than WVO by itself with conversion (which I'm planning to do on my GM 4108 bus with Detroit Diesel 8v71 engine--anyone done one of these; I'd love to hear about it, and/or see it!)

I'm just curious here, not intending to start anything at all......Please don't take it as such..... What is your basis for knocking Aleks Kac's method? I'm a degreed chemical engineer that worked in R&D at DOW for several years before starting my own company, so you can get very technical with the chemistry and processing parts that you find fault with, without losing me, so feel free. Thanks. |

I haven't heard of the "Accusorb Beads". Are they similar to Dallas Group's "Magnasol" wherein they claim almost immediate ASTM quality Bio D? By the way, I bought the DSE stuff and have been using it in my 1985 MB 300SD and 1980 240D. I was alternatively running commercially made B100 and my home brew B100 when I came accross the DSE add. $40.00 aint that big of a deal so I figured, what the heck. Both cars are running fine, course I live in the Arizona desert where it still hits 104 in the end of September. I also have one customer who runn Issuzu UD trucks. He was using my brewed B100 in all 4 of his trucks and has been running the DSE stuff for the last 3 weeks. He reports that the trucks run quieter and smoother. I think I'll change them back to B100 in October when the temp heads to 90 and I'll keep evaluating the DSE stuff through the winter months in my 240D, the 300SD goes back to B100 in October too. |
