That seems like it is probably the main way. However, some have proposed that ffa+glycerol=monoglyceride. I have seen no evidence that it does or does not occur.

Ideas on how to test?


1) Take a 1L sample of crude byproduct and fraction it with acid.
2) Measure the glycerine amount.
3) Perform a pretreatment with crude byproduct the sample was pulled from.
4) Take a 1L sample of crude byproduct post pretreat.
5) Fraction the sample and measure the amount of glycerine.
6) Compare number 2 and number 5 looking for a discernable change in glycerine qty.
