What arethe options for antigel additives in the US?
A friend who stopped homebrewing suggested wintron XC30 but you have to order it from Canada and the shipping makes it not worthwhile.
I am trying to find a source for Power Service biodiesel antigel. Any other suggestions?

Lots of winterized D2 or kerosene.

Hi UFO, what ratio of Kerosene to B100. It's down to -14C last night, broke a record for this date.

Nope; at least none that have been brought to the attention of anybody on this list. Mixing with regular diesel or kerosene is the only proven method. Its also the simplest and most widely available.

My blending calculator says that would be about B67/K33 to get gelling at about 6F (-14C).

I have done extensive testing on every anti gell that is sold INCLUDING the power service that is made for bio and not a single one shows more than a degree or two of difference as compared to a control of B100.
In my experience at this point only dino diesel or kerosene are worth using.

That must depend on the feedstock from which the BD is made. Do you know what feedstock that is based on?

Oh, right; I should have thrown that disclaimer on there. Its based on the Duff BD Calculator (I plotted a dozen points with their calculator to draw out the base formula in Excel). I believe it was 75% Non-hydrogenated Soy...or something like that.

I always factor in a 5-10 degree safety margin, and then leave a jar of the representative mix sitting out to check before I start the truck. The typical common sense behavior to winter biodiesel.

I am running B10 in the main tank with plenty of diesel conditioner and B100 in a heated tank with heated fuel lines as my everyday fuel.
I am using very little of the main tank's fuel compared to the B100; this is irregardless of the cold. I've been out in -20C on B100 without a burp.
The system is not perfect, but comes about as close as it can. It is modifiable to accomodate each situation with larger coolant lines, different placement of the switch valve for those who sleep their vehicle outside ect. but for all around cold weather usability nothing beats heat (IMO of course Wink )
