You should be able to get a window motor for less than $100 at a wrecking yard. The hardest part is getting the motor out. You'll have to pull the door panel and then there are 3 or 4 bolts you'll have to remove to get it disconnected from the door, and two holding the raising mechanism to the window.
You should check out the Schuman Automotive Forum. It's a great place for info and questions on these old MBs. Lots of do-it-yourself stuff there including one form door panel removal. There is a link in my signature to the forum. You'll find me there with the same name. ------------------------------------------------ 82 Mercedes 300TD - 25k on biodiesel 78 Mercedes 240D - 10k miles on a two tank WVO system 77 Mercedes 300D - New Project www.schumanautomotive.com/forums/ - Vintage Mercedes Forum. Thanks for the reference. After browsing around the site I think it's safe to say I do not have viton fuel lines in an 83 300TD. I guess it's an add on to the "to-do" list.
Cost estimate? |

GreaseWorks.org sells viton hose kits that replace all the hoses in the fuel system. Viton is expensive so the kits are a bit spendy, a little over $100. There is also a viton lined hose. It is rated SAE30R9. They are still more expensive than regular fuel injection hose but cheaper than solid viton. Greaseworks also sells that hose in bulk, but you can also find them at many auto parts store.
Another thing you'll want to be ready for it clogged fuel filters. Biodiesel is a great solvent, so it will clean out your fuel system. All the gunk that it cleans out will end up in your fuel filters. So make sure you have a couple of spares handy. You'll want both the plastic pre-filter, and the spin on filter. I like the clear pre-filters so I can see when they are getting clogged. Also remember to blend your biodiesel with petrodiesel in the winter. Biodiesel gels at a much warmer temp than petro does. So in the cold months don't run B99. I usually switch to B50 or B20 once temps start getting near freezing. ------------------------------------------------ 82 Mercedes 300TD - 25k on biodiesel 78 Mercedes 240D - 10k miles on a two tank WVO system 77 Mercedes 300D - New Project www.schumanautomotive.com/forums/ - Vintage Mercedes Forum. Hi bmor.
I am confused. Did you buy an 300D or a 300TD ? I just picked up a 1980 300TD on Sunday night --- it has major paint issues, but the engine was rebuilt like 40K miles ago and SLS works! Plus it has a great interior minus driver's seat and floor carpet\pad. I can find those. Speaking of window motors, I usually can find one and sell it to you for less than $100 US. daw 1986 Mercedes 300SDL 2000 Dodge Cummins |

it is actually a 300SD, body and paint in good condition. Issues; radio and fan are intermittent, and the aforementioned window motor. I put in 3/4 tank full of B100 so I guess I'd better get on the Viton fuel lines pretty soon. Pic's to come.
