Hi, I am just getting started making bio. I am looking for others in my area to meet/chat with for advice/experienece with making the stuff. I have made a couple liters with new oil, and am starting to try some with some used soy frying oil I collected here in town. I am also in the process of building a processor and a wash tank. THANKS! Jason

Hey Chris, thanks for the reply. I am trying to get hooked up with some local restaurants to get wvo, collecting drums and etc. I got some 55 gal drums from here at work, they even gave me several drums of transformer oil, which will burn nicely in a diesel engine. I guess the neighbors saw the drums and didn't have much to do..... they called the sheriff on me! HA!! They must have though I had a meth lab or something! Anyway, what a pain... I was asleep at the time, I work 3rd shift. My wife told me all about it. They wanted to know what was in the drums and etc. and said I had to move them. So, in the basement they go.... She said there was a sheriff and a county woman, said if they leak and the epa finds out they will fine us... and etc. If they give me any more crap I guess I will just ask them what they plan to do to all the people with 250 gal fuel oil tanks for their furnace???????? EH??? BULL!@%$!!!!! This was on a Sunday too! They ain't got much to do! All I figure is they thought it was a meth operation LOL!!! Anyway, we'll hook up sometime soon, just let me move my drums before they lock me up!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like the first thing people do these days is call the cops. What about being a friendly neighbor and just asking? Its what i would do. I think u should send some cookies and ask them for tea! hahah
This is Great.. I'm in yogaville tring to get something started. i just bought a 84 chevy truck so i'm replacing some things to get an inspection. i should have it ready weds or so. I'm super stoked on this biodiesel thing.. i'm am HIGHLY considering a BioPro 190 or something.. just the ease and constistancy is something to consider in the price. Plus the re-sell value has got to be better than something home-made. I have a guy in richmond i want to talk to about a unit. i hope to be up and running in a month or so.. I should have many more people here in the community interested once i'm not spending 4 bucks a gal for fuel.
So Yes.. lets combine forces and help each other out. I"m also looking for some collection things. What kinda car/truck you using
Lata

The BioPro is the only way to go! I live in southside VA and have made 300 gallons since July 8. When I read all the issues people have with processors they have built, I am so thankful I got the 190!

Send me a PM and I'll give you more info!

I have an 02 f-250 superduty 7.3 powerstroke. I am being very cautious, would suck to screw it up! I ain't even done paying for it yet! I have made some dr pepper batches. I need to get my titration junk set up. Beakers, etc. I got a 10ml pipette, and a scale that reads grams etc. I have some drums of course if you need some, 55gal steel. I made a wash tank already. I am an industrial maint. man.... electrician, but I weld and do all the other stuff too. Since I am not in jail, I can get started again collecting oil. HA! I need to pick a spot at home to build all my stuff and store it, I don't want to put it in the basement..?? Biggest thing I can see needing is the methanol. I am going to check with some local racers I know and see where they get their methanol. It is best to buy in 55gal drums I imagine......

Methanol,
World wide race fuels in Brimo Bluff. At the bridge on 15 crossing the James. Your using it for race fuel right? Price is a tad more than Univar, Chemsolve, and Industrial Cehmical in Richmond but much closer to you, especially in Buckingham.

Thanks double d. I will look into that. Good to see someone else in my neck of the woods replying! I know there has got to be people @ here that are doin bio, or want to. I don't have a "ton" of money to spend on it, and even if I did, I wouldn't, that defeats the purpose of making bio to me. SAVING MONEY!!! Plus helping the environment, which is a nice bonus!! If you have 10 grand to spend on a processor, you don't need to be worrying about making bio to save money in the first place!eh??? Hell! If I had that kind of money, I would put one of those big auxilary tanks on my truck and drive to the nearest place that pumps b-100, load up 300 gal or so and fill out my paperwork to get my big fat tax credit for running it! NICE!!!! If ya make that kind of jack ya need a way to reduce taxes.... I WISH I COULD DO IT!! NO CHIT!!!! I'm just a squirrel tryin' to get a nut! Anyway that's my take on it! I am going to build everything I will be using. It's all about cheap fuel to me, and the satisfaction of doin it yourself......Ya know??

I just found a 40gal little water heater. It came out of a house and did work.. It had a small leak so they replaced it. I"m sure it could be patched. I'm willing to give it away. Just come and get it. I am plan on patching it when i get around to it.
I'm also planning to build my own system, I like the thread on re claiming the methenol.

I just replaced my water heater last weekend. It corroded out around the lower heating element, BAD!! I am going to use a steel drum for my processor with a removeable lid I think. I am just going to dispose of my old water heater, it would take a lot of cleaning with clr and the leak repaired. It is pretty rough! Anyone wants it though they can have it, just holler! I need to get to work on my stuff! I am getting lazy. I may try to make a 5 gal batch this weekend... But the Roanoke valley gun show is this weekend too, so who knows!

I live in Buckingham and work in Lynchburg. I am in the restaurant business and I'm using clarified WVO to burn in my furnace. I have a steady supply of oil every week. My boss owns nine restaurants state-wide, so the possibilities are vast. Soon, winter will be over, and no need for a furnace. I would like to meet up with someone who is brewing. I provide the oil, and half the expense, plus labor. Any thoughts out there?

I am a full time student at Longwood in Farmville and will be getting a diesel and into bio over the summer. I would love to help out and hook up once I get everything setup. I wouldn't mind driving an hr on the weekends or when I am bored which is often.
