Hello -

Does anyone in this forum know of any (U.S.) municipalities or government entities west of the Mississippi running government vehicles on biodiesel rendered from waste vegetable oil?

Next week, there will be a media event documenting one such entity in Arizona and we need to know how to frame it (i.e. is this particular city the first in the southwest?)

I know California is pursuing such a project as documented here:

http://www.biofuelsdigest.com/blog2/2008/01/16/pacifica...oil-biodiesel-plant/

Are there others that are running on WVO biodiesel?

Thank you.

Here are some of the notes about Oregon:
http://www.oregon.gov/DAS/SSD/FLEET/faq.shtml
quote:
The Salem Motor Pool dispenses unleaded, compressed natural gas (CNG), E-85, and biodiesel (B20).

The Portland Motor Pool dispenses unleaded, compressed natural gas (CNG) and E-85.

The Eugene Motor Pool dispenses compressed natural gas (CNG).

Other fuel types, including E-85, biodiesel B-20, and unleaded E-10 are increasingly available at retail sites, including the SeQuential BioFuels station at Exit # 189 off Interstate 5, in Eugene.

Another note about Eugene:
http://www.greaseworks.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=...read&order=0&thold=0
quote:
DAS plans to have its Lane County vehicles fill up with E85 and biodiesel at the new SeQuential station, thanks to the governor's commitment to lower net emissions.

So, some E-85,
And quite a bit of B20.

No notes of sources for the fuel.
SeQuential Biofuels in Eugene does sell various mixes of Biodiesel including B100, I think.

If city fleets get running on any WVO sourced fuel, there won't ever be a drop for anyone else ever again.

Do you guys think they'll ever give back the grease once they taste the fuel savings?

Telling anyone about WVO biofuels is a very bad idea. WVO is a very limited resource.

Very good advice. Promoting and publicizing used VO is like shooting at your feet in a boat.
