Welcome all,
This topic is being created for all of the South Central Pa. forum members that have been using the “Hershey, PA” topic. Dr. Evil has not been heard from since December 15, 2005 so I am starting a new topic to cover a broader area in Pa. I invite your input and feedback as we start to make plans for a gathering of the relatively local forum members. Once the Date, Place, and Time, are established, we will post this information for forum members. We look forward to your comments and questions, there is enough interest and experience in this region to promote the Safe and Responsible production and use of BioDiesel. Thank you for all of your interest and support of this topic.

Bgem41,
Good to hear from you.
I have been very busy with my new job; I have also been working on my space issue in my garage. I went to set up for another batch this weekend, and realized I only had 6 gal. of methanol left. I guess I will have to pick up another drum after the holidays. I was hoping to have my recovery processor completed by now, but that’s not going to happen for a while. I hope that all of the members have a blessed weekend. Type to you later.

Hello Ray Ten,
Welcome back. Spring has sprung and the lawn and the outside stuff has taken alot of my time. I've gotten my processor back from the weld shop and have been setting it up also. Production will start soon also. Glad to see you back.

Ray Ten,
Great to hear from you! Sound like you are on your way, how did your first batch go? try to post a few photos of your processor, and the car you mentioned on the "Hereshy" thread.

Bgem41,
How has setting up your processor been going? It sounds like you are making major modification in the design of your processor, or you are using what was available at the time. As far as time to make BioDiesel, I have been squeezing in my batches between all of my activities, with the biggest time consumption in getting the batch heated and mixed in the processor. After the BioDiesel has separated, I can take more time and if all else fails, I can let it set until I get to it.

All,
As I mentioned on April 14, I had run out of Methanol. I called Allied Oil and Chemical Sales, in York Pa., to confirm the price, and it is still $120/barrel. I do not know what Striker Yacht was talking about in the "Hershey" thread. Anyway, that is history, and now we are on a new thread, with members who want to talk about what can be done, not what can't be done. In the past I have been getting vegetable shorting, and it makes a good fuel, but I have secured a new oil source which used a vegetable oil and it is even better and easier to work with. Looking forward to hearing from all of you. Type to you later.

Hello Ya'll
Just got back from the center of the earth. Stopped by Atlantis, (that's why I am late in replying), to see how they did thier spring lawn work without the help of slaves. They were not very helpful, so my wife and I had to do it AGAIN.

This along with overtime has kept me offline.

Oh yaeh, the drum processor and washtank are almost complete. Hope to get the fist batch done by June 1. Big Grin

Mr Bill, thanks for the methanol info, My recovery still is not very far either.

Ray Ten, Good to see you here. Good job with the processor. Congrats.

Ed Flynn, I understand busy also. Keep an eye out.

All, emails will be coming out shortly about a get together.

Mr Glenn,
It is good to hear from you. Sorry so the delay, but I have been a little busy lately. Welcome to our thread, I am not sure how many people in your area are making BioDiesel, but I am sure you will be able to find all of the information you are looking for on this forum. It has been very helpful to me when I was staring out. Keep us posted on your progress, it is very rewarding to see how much you can save by making your own BioDiesel.

Wanted to post a photo of my system but it would not accept the file.

OK South Central Pa.
I think I have finally figured out how to post photos. This is the promised photo of my system up until the middle of August. I have since made a cone bottom tank from a ploy drum, and used it to make a batch of BioDiesel just a few days ago. It was handle not having to transfer the fuel from the separator tank to the washer, and then out of the washer into 5 gal. containers so I can clean out the washer , dump the fuel back into the wash tank so I could dry the fuel. I will post a photo of the new tank as soon as I can. I think it is interesting, when I was researching this forum for information on how to make BioDiesel, it seemed that there were so many different ways to design, make a system, and process BioDiesel. Here it is almost a year later and I am still coming up with improvements for my system. Its no wonder it is confusing to new people on the subject. Happy homebrewing

Great to here from you. As I mentioned on May 10th posting on this thread, Allied Oil and Chemical Sales, in York Pa., and it is still $120/barrel. I have not been able to find anyone selling it any cheaper. Heres their address and phone numbers.

How have things been on your end? We haven't heard from you since May 15th. I hope all is well, we are interested in any progress that you have made or photos of your system.

I am still trying to get a photo of my new tank, time just slips away......

Hello to S.C. Pa from new member in S.W. PA, Indiana County.
I'm on my 3rd 40 litre batch - having better luck with mist washing then bubble. My bubble attempt caused billions of tiny air pockets in my fuel which took 2 weeks to settle out. Also have question about the best drying method.
We are using bio to hopefully use on farm equip

batmaster,
Welcome, it sound like you are well on your way for making BioDiesel. I mist wash two time before I get aggressive with my wash cycles. After misting, I just use a garden nozzle to load the water into the wash tank and then I use a small air compressor to bubble wash, at least four more times. I use the same bubble hose to dry the BioDiesel but I only use a aquarium air pump to generate a curtain of bubbles. Keep posting your progress so others can learn.

Hello Mr Bll,

Thanks for reply. I bought an aquarium pump too and bubbled up through water layer with bad results of air pockets in fuel. Not sure what I did wrong. When U bubble dry are U just bubbling throuh the fuel alone??? I'm worried I'll get the same result. Do U do any other quality test on your product other than a visual ?? I'm new at this but have been reading a lot....any help is appreciated.
Stuck in New Jersey this week for company training...can't wait to get back to the farm....got 80 litres to get washed..
