I think the last time I filled up, B100 was about 2.41 + taxes. So about the same as Dino. |

Okay who wants to be the COOP director? I'm in Caroline county(near Kings Domonion) I have 52 acres two barns(one with electic) I go into Md. and NVa. once a week can get as much oil as a pickup can haul(1700lb=250gal). Last time I bought methonol it was $2 a gal by the gal.

Hi, this is Rich in Chesterfield, I used to get my B-100 from VABiodiesel off of the West Point exit on 64, but I rarely pass by there these days. I've burned about 30,000 miles worth of it in my '04 Jetta and love it.
I'd like to do one or both of the following: -Work a deal with one or more people who also want B-100 to regularly buy quantities at the refinery and then distribute it in the Richmond area as we need it; -Assist in a co-op to make B-100 from WVO in whatever capacity I can. I'd prefer buying commercially made B-100 just for the peace of mind of being fairly sure that it's made properly, but I'm not opposed to buying from someone who makes it in their garage, as long as it's done right. Please contact me if you have similar interests, or just want to talk about Biodiesel/SVO. Thanks! |

Rich, I have had my eye on a 500 gal. Fuel Trailer for some time now, but the $3000.00 price tag has stopped me from acting to quickly. I would be interested in making the hauls if we could figure out a way to recoup some of the expense. Darryn |

DMV;
I go through roughly 17 gallons a week. Just an idea; Maybe we could work out some kind of delivery fee on top of the cost of the BD itself if you could bring it to my house? I can get a couple of 55 gallon drums and use it as I need it, and maybe even help distribute it to others the same way if there's takers. Let me know what you think.

Gee,
I go away from this part of the forum for a couple weeks and miss a lot. So, were's the co-op going to meet? I have been producing small batches lately but, I don't have the time to be messing with my 30 gallon processor every weekend. I may just build a bigger processor to meet my needs, which would be to brew about once a month and produce around a hundred gallons / month. I'll start keeping an eye on this thread to see if this can go anywhere. |

Rich,
I just picked up another load yesterday from VaBio and the new price with road taxes included was $3.01 gal. It is going to be hard to convince many people to spend the extra bucks, especially when Dino D starts to drop in accordance with gasoline. But it sure starts to make it worth looking at doing it ourselves. Darryn [QUOTE]Originally posted by Rich K: DMV; I go through roughly 17 gallons a week. DMV & Gillig (and anyone else interested);
Whatever I can do to contribute to the cause, let's figure something out. It ticks me off every time I have to fill up with opec's dino-juice. If you guys want to make B-100 from WVO, I'm happy to buy it as long as it's made properly and consistantly. If I can help with delivering / buying chemicals, etc, I can probably help with that, but my money/time is limited because I'm a teacher and I have a 1 year old. My home could serve as a bit of a fuel depot, but I probably can't have too much traffic coming in in and out of my driveway, it's in the 'burbs. I'm thinking that the best way I can help is to buy it from you and pay well above and beyond your cost of making it, which as I understand, ranges from 50 cents to a buck a gallon- I would love to pay $1-$2 a gallon for *properly* made B-100. Let's brainstorm! -Rich |

... And, I would love to pay for sex (*properly* done, of course); in the end, it would be cheaper that way but, that's illegal Dan |

hart,
Are you still brewing? What capacity are you at? What would it take to get you up to a substantial quantity? DMV

Its been awhile since some of you have posted. But yesterday 9-19 gasaline was 2.09 on Midlothin Twp. diesel is 2.32 in Port Royal(southeast of Fred.)I want to make BD to save money. I've been collecting WVO but have not purchased any processing equipment. I have several 55 gal plastic drums(blue)would like to use clear or transl. rather than water heater(I would like to see the process)I'm in Caroline county(Kings Dominion)It seems we are at the four corners of the map.

DH -- I understand about wanting to use those free plastic drums. I have several myself. I would suggest that you do not use them for the processor. Ideally, a processor should be made of metal instead of plastic. Heater elements and plastic together are just a bad idea. If you can do the heating outside of the drum in circulation, then it might not be so bad. Be careful to have a low pressure relief valve also. I would expect these drums to have a bad reaction to relatively low pressures of 5-10 psi. Especially when they are full of warm oil. I am still in the process of building a reactor out of a open-top 55 gallon steel drum. You can pick those up for about $25 at a drum recycling place. Even with steel drums, you still have to be careful about pressure relief.
Drums are just not made to handle pressure like a hot water heater. Chris |

Hello everyone,
My name is David Nusselder and I am located in Raleigh. I'm right now in the negotiation stages of becoming a distributor for a European Biodiesel company. I recently visited the factory in The Netherlands and was very impressed. I believe that this company is years ahead of anything we have here in the United States, they offer batch and continous processors of very high quality. If there is any interest in superior quality processors please email me at NusselderEnterprises@hotmail.com and I will schedule a presentation. Thank You, David Nusselder |

Near Richmonders,
I want to start producing biodiesel this summer, but before I invest any money, I would like to see firsthand someone's setup and talk about what is actually involved. Its hard to grasp that from online. Would anybody in the area be willing to give me a tour of their operation? Thanks, Greg gregericksenATgmailDOTcom |

Also, a lot of people have expressed interest in a co-op. I think a big obstacle is the fact that not everyone checks this forum everyday.
Starting a google/yahoo group and mailing list would get everyone on the same page just by adding their address, assuming people check their email. Or even a dedicated thread on this forum and making sure that everyone turns on email notifications. |

Even though I'm about an hour south of you guys, I'm down in Portsmouth...I'm interested in any kind of co-op we could get going....I have made contact with a few locals, so they might even be interested in joining in...I know personally I don't have time to get on here every day...Some sort of e-mail list might work better, not sure how other co-ops do it....I don't know if dominion Chemical in Petersburg would give us a discount on buying methanol from them in bulk or not, they're the closest place I've found that ain't at a robbing price...Do not yet have a local source for KOH or NaOH, have been sidetracked with other household work, so BD has gotten backburner for a bit, but need to get back on track with it....
