Did my first 25 gallon acid/base batch today after a test batch success. Started with titration of 22, used dkenny's recipe, mixed about 18 hours, settled about 24 hours, drained about a gallon off, remixed, new titration was 5.5. 3 more gallons of methanol, used a base of 7, total 1200 grams koh,
mixed 3 more hours and let settle. Now when I drained the glyc off I'm not seeing a difference between the glyc and the bio, it's all very dark/black. Lots of "dirt" in it too. Did I clean the walls of my tank? Do I have bio? I've made over 300 gallons of bio with good success using a "GL type" processor but I don't know what I have here. The last 5 gallon jug I emptied out I did a quick 3/27 test and it appears to have passed. The tentative plan is to try to wash the top 20 gallons and see what happens. Then maybe reprocess the rest 5 gallons at a time with the next 3 batches. Any opinions? Will acid turn the bio black? The vegoil was pretty black to begin with but it usually makes nice urine colored bio. The acid came from Utah Bio btw, good stuff. Sorry so long....... This message has been edited.
