HELLO TO ALL,

I just completed the following experiment.

In a large mason jar i added the following.

1000 ml of wvo titrated at 7 koh (dry oil)
100 ml of methanol alcohol
1 ml of Rooto sulfuric acid %????

I shook it all up real good and placed
in a big bucket of hot water from the tap
outside on the porch to roast.

i shook it up several time through out
the day just for fun.

a clear layer formed on top that looked
like biodiesel , maybe just alcohol
not sure.

just titrated it at 4 KOH !!!

I know for the old pros this seems like
nothing (big yawn)

I had to retest it several times just
to make sure. 4 KOH everytime!!!

I then tested the thin layer on the top
and it tested about 7 KOH. pour this off
maybe?

anyway, i'm happy and know if a few
happy shakes and a hot water batch
can knock 3 points off....

well you know the rest

yea to worked..

next time using slightly less acid..say 0.8ml
you might find the results are lower.

the stuff on top is
water/methanol/acid..the acid, of course is why to titrates higher..

if you have some bad oil. say 20KOH do the same test but more acid...20-3*0.2=3.4ml...this time you find the layer on the bottom not the top.
being able to drain in large batches is a must.

Is the Rooto brand drain cleaner (professional)
ok? ie high enough purity (%)

i went to their web sight
and nothing is posted.

nothing on the bottle either

a 50 liter acid base/base
with a glycerin pre-polish.

i'm going to use my main processor.

shooting for sunday night late
plus monday some and run on tuesday

maybe a little extra acid
since the purity is a little low?

I wouldn't use any extra acid...its better use not enough than too much..

too much will the titration to go up!! and stay up..

not enough will leave the titration above 3. but this also depends what's initial titration..
