I know it's generally a bad idea, but how well does copper hold up to some acid esterification batches? I know someone out there has probably run a copper-coil-heated reactor with this process at one point. Any thoughts?

i'm not an expert here, but i wouldn't use copper, it's just not stable enough. stainless steel is the way to go, and even that does not withstand the acid forever...
