As I understand it, the acid stage creates water which eventually reaches an equilibrium and the water stops the reaction.

Can the water be removed? If so, once removed, can the acid stage be done again to get the titration even lower?

Thanks,

Hello Murphy

That is the theory. Depending on how much of what there is, a layer of water/methanol/glycerine/H2SO4 will form on either the bottom or top and once removed more methanol/H2SO4 can be added to continue the reaction

Look at This paper for more information
This is the paper that also says that WVO titrating at 1 KOH will not make ASTM biodiesel in a single stage if KOH is used in the reaction.
